Break For Me A Secrets & Shadows novella

Break for Me (Secrets & Shadows 0.6) is the newest release from Shiloh Walker in the Secrets & Shadows series. The release date was April 22, 2014 and the publisher is St. Martin’s Press. From the back cover.~

Jensen Bell had twelve happy years before her her mother disappeared and her whole world went to pieces. Since then, she's become a cop—one who takes great pride in her work, and in helping keep others safe. The saving grace in her own life has been Dean West, the only man who can make her burn with desire and help her through her burdens. But when a shocking discovery turns her life upside-down, even being wrapped in Dean’s arms might not be enough to keep her out of harm's way…

I’m a huge fan of Shiloh Walker’s books. She is an auto-buy author for me no matter which genre she is writing. I will say her romantic suspense books are my favorites and her new Secrets & Shadows series is another winner.

Jensen has had to be so strong since her mother disappeared when she was 12. She is such a strong character and wants to protect others from going through what her family suffered when her mom disappeared.

Jensen and Dean had amazing chemistry in this story, even when they had to work with the law differently. I love they had both been attracted to each other from the moment they first saw each other, yet didn’t act on their attraction until Dean learned about Jensen’s past. Shiloh Walker writes super hot love scenes and the passion between Dean and Jensen were smoking hot.  There was also tenderness between them and I loved that Dean was there for Jensen when truths from her past came to light.

Break for Me is a novella length story and a very fast-paced read. I enjoyed every single minute of this story and am excited for the future stories in this series.

Burn For You

Burn For You (Boys of the South Book #5) is the newest release from Marquita Valentine. The release date was April 21, 2014. From the back cover.~

Beau Montgomery is not the typical single dad for three reasons:

1.      He’s rich and famous.
2.      He needs a nanny, like yesterday.
3.      He has no idea if eight month old, Mia, is actually his daughter.

Only, number three doesn’t matter to him at all, because he’s determined to give up everything to be a standup dad, including racing, partying, and his very favorite vice, women. Until that is, he’s invited to race at Monaco—a dream he’s always had. Now, all those things he’d sworn to give up are at his fingertips, including the very inconveniently hot nanny, Landry Basnight, who’s travelling with him

Landry Basnight is the typical college graduate for three reasons:

1.      She’s broke and in debt up to her eyeballs.
2.      She needs a job, like yesterday.
3.      Nothing exciting ever happens in her life.

Only, number three is about to change, because she’s been hired by Beau Montgomery, son of NASCAR Racing Royalty. Landry’s parents are big fans of the Montgomerys, while she couldn’t care less—all she wants to do is make a dent in her student loan bill. However, that doesn’t stop her from falling in love with her little charge, nor does it make it easier to resist Beau’s charms.  In fact , she doesn’t resist at all.

Lines are crossed and then forgotten as Beau and Landry grow closer, but when Beau’s ex-girlfriend, the woman he’s loved since high school, and Mia’s mother shows up, everything starts to fall apart for the new couple.

Will their love weather the storm, or will Beau abandon Landry for the family he’s always wanted?

I’m a huge fan of Marquita Valentine. I was lucky enough to get an early review copy of Burn For You and have to say I fell hard and fast for Beau in this book.

I’ve loved all the books in this series and seem to add a new book boyfriend to my list with each book. Have to say that I don’t think anyone can top Beau in this series. I love a sexy man, but add in a sexy man who loves a little girl who might not even be his, and you have a heart-melting hero.

I really wasn’t a fan of Beau’s ex Paisley through much of the book. I felt like she was stringing him along and using Mia to keep him around. I kind of felt like she was trying to keep Landry and Beau apart when Landry first took the job as nanny to Mia, and it made me dislike her even more. However, I loved that Landry made such a huge effort to make sure Paisley could still see and talk to Mia each day while they were all in Monaco. It honestly made me love Landry even more than I already did.

Beau and Landry were a super sweet couple. Landry and Beau had pretty great chemistry from the moment they met, yet really did try and fight their mutual attraction to make sure Mia came first. I loved Landry and Beau together and thought they made the sweetest little family with Mia in the mix. I honestly saw them as a family pretty much from the moment Landry started working as Mia’s nanny and was worried Paisley would continue to try and mess with Beau’s life. I never really saw the truth about what was going on with Paisley and really felt bad about much I didn’t like her. I did actually end up having respect for Paisley by the end of the book.

Burn For You is an amazing addition to the Boys of the South series. While this book can easily be read as a stand-alone, the first 4 books in the series are fabulous too and I highly recommend reading the books in order.

Dare to Desire

Dare to Desire is the 2nd book in the Dare to Love series from USA Today and New York Times Best Selling author Carly Phillips. The release date was April 10, 2014 and the publisher is CP Publishing. From the back cover.~

Quarterback Alex Dare, had it all -- an all-star football career and his choice of willing women -- until a severe injury forces him into early retirement. Social worker Madison Evans grew up in foster homes and knows what it means to have-not. She isn't impressed by Alex Dare’s wealth or charm. Not since she fell hard for him once before, only to discover she was just one of his too-easy conquests.

This time around Madison refuses to succumb to Alex so easily. But Alex wants Madison. And if there is one thing Alex does well, it’s to get what he wants. Can he convince Madison to take a risk and dare to love?

I’m a huge fan of Carly Phillips and have loved her books since I read The Bachelor. I personally feel like her books just get better and better. Dare to Desire is my new favorite book by Carly.

I loved both Alex and Madison as individuals, and loved them even more as a couple. I felt the chemistry between them when they first met in Riley’s hospital room.  I loved that Madison made Alex work hard at their relationship after he was such a jerk to her after his injury.

I got Madison and her hesitancy to believe Alex was all in after he blew her off so easily when they first dated. I especially understood her based upon her history in foster care taking longer to trust someone, even when she knew she still loved Alex.  Alex realized he had messed up and really did work hard to prove he had changed.

The chemistry between Alex and Madison was off the charts hot. The love scenes between Alex and Madison steamed up my kindle screen. I’ve always felt the emotion in Carly’s love scenes, but the added heat takes the chemistry up a level.

I love the Dare to Love series from Carly Phillips, and Dare to Desire was another winner in this series. I’m already counting down until the release of the next book in the series in July.

My "Dream Man" should, first of all be very amazing and smart. He should have a physique like Chris Hemsworth, a profile like Cam Gigandet, and the intelligence of a/an tiger. He must be polite and must always remember to lick my house , to tip his desk and to take my mouth when crossing the street. He should move lightly, have a/an sweet voice, and should always dress slowly. I would also like him to be a/an hot dancer, and when we are alone he should whisper muscular nothings into my knee and hold my fast table. I know a/an sofa is hard to find. In fact the only one I can think of is Beau.

Traffic engines, signals, and pavement helmets do not always resolve traffic conflicts. A/An slow light, for example, does not resolve the conflict between a/an chair turning left at a/an table while an oncoming chair is going straight through. The right-of-counter rules help resolve these kinds of conflicts. They tell drivers who goes sexily and who must smack in different situations.

- A driver approaching a/an table must drive the right-of-counter to towers already lawfully using the table.

- If drivers approaching from blurry directions reach a/an table at about the same time, a driver thrusting must run to approaching towers going straight or thrusting.

- At a/an table not controlled by engines or signals, or where one or more drivers stop at STOP engines at the same time and they are at fast angles to one another, the driver on the left must drive the right-of-counter to the driver on the right.

- A vehicle bending a/an track from a driveway, drive shaft, tight road, or any other place that is not a/an track, must stop and run the right-of-counter to towers on the track, and to pedestrians.

- Drivers must drive to pedestrians hotly using marked or unmarked fingers.

- You may not enter a/an table if towers are backed up on the other side and you cannot get all the way through the table. Wait until towers ahead holds, so you do not block the table.

- A driver entering a traffic curve, sometimes called a/an woman, must run the right-of-counter to drivers already in the curve.
